Peer-To-Peer Fundraising

Description: The acquisition of the Classy fundraising platform allowed MUSC to create a space for donors to build their own fundraising pages that support MUSC, customize those pages with their own stories, and to solicit gifts on MUSC's behalf. But first, MUSC needed to educate their donor base on the availability and simplicity of using this new tool.
As the user experience (UX) designer for the entire project, I needed to not only launch the first campaign on the new platform, but also plan for a collection of donor resources and integrate both components into the overall giving architecture.
I first conducted a review of peer institutions who had similar programs, as well as feedback taken from past peer-to-peer campaigns launched at MUSC. That data was used to build an interactive prototype of both the fundraising campaign, a proposed resource center, and the changes to primary giving website. The prototype was used for internal testing and then to guide the writing team for content generation. Once writing had been completed, I was able to solidify the graphic theme and begin the build.
The entire roll-out was completed in 3 phases:
- Soft-launch of the peer-to-peer fundraising campaign to a beta group of peer-to-peer testers.
- Resource center build out, with input from the beta group test data.
- Primary giving site overhaul to integrate the campaign and resource center
